Vocational Assistance

The Altamont Program, Inc. provides a critical role in the rehabilitation of the addicted. Treatment alone is not enough to reintegrate people back into society. Vocational training is essential for clients to obtain and retain jobs once treatment is complete. In the last few years, emphasis has been placed on job training rather than welfare at the state level. This has increased the demand for educational and job training programs, especially when coupled with an overall plan of treatment and supervised housing.

Altamont Program owns two hotels (in Albany and Syracuse) and several restaurants that provide on-the-job training for students in culinary arts, hospitality, retail sales, and computer training. GED classes are taught in conjunction with training.

Another important service is the HIV/AIDS program, providing education, training, and support to those who are afflicted. AIDS housing is also available.
