The community residences of 820 River Street, Inc. are an integral part of the  PYHIT network. The halfway houses and supportive living residences (a.k.a "three-quarter houses") provide a structured environment for clients who are receiving outpatient care. These residences are all certified by the Office of Alcohol and Substance Abuse Services.

Halfway Houses

The Halfway House in Troy, NY provides the most structured environment for clients who are in treatment.

The Halfway House is licensed for 22 beds, and serves men only. The staff to client ratio is 1:4, with 24 hour coverage. There are a multitude of services offered that teach living skills and recovery.

The Halfway House in Glens Falls (13 Crandall Street) was opened in November 2002. Formerly a low-cost independent housing site, it was licensed by OASAS as a halfway house to serve the needs of those who need a more structured environment. From here they can transition into nearby Lawrence Street Supportive Living for supervised, but more independent housing. Crandall Street has 17 beds and six full-time staff.

The former Pinewood Lodge in Granville was renovated in 2003 and 2004 to become a 15 bed halfway house covering Washington County. It is conveniently located near the village on Route 22. The site is for female clients.

Supportive Living

The Supportive Living residences (such as the site in Troy where PYHIT began) are usually the second step in transitional housing. Otherwise known as "three-quarter" houses, these residences have the same staff to client ratio, but do not require 24 hour coverage. They encourage the tenants there to continue the living skills that were started at the Halfway House.

Supportive living is structured as a residence rather than separate apartments, and offers top-level transitional living support and education.

OASAS-certified in 2000, the South Road Supportive Living site in Jamaica-Queens supports the Sutphin Boulevard Outpatient Clinic. It provides a structured living environment for clients who are receiving outpatient treatment. It is PYHIT's third Supportive Living residence, and is licensed for 14 beds.

The Lawrence Street Supportive Living contains 7 beds (the two buildings in the picture are connected) consisting of three 1-bedroom and two 2-bedroom apartments. Like South Road, this site houses both men and women who are in recovery. Counseling, assessment, meetings, and other services in support of outpatient treatment are offered. Clients normally transition here from Crandall Street Halfway House. Cherry Street in Glens Falls is used as independent housing for those who have completed their treatment plan in the supported housing system (it is across the street from Lawrence).

St. Joseph's Terrace in Albany was certified in 2004, and is reserved for women only. There are a wide range of apartment buildings either owned or leased by PYHIT in the Capital District area for those who have graduated from supportive living. Please see the housing page for more information.
